Another devastating shooting has been reported at UNC Charlotte this week, and yet again no real action has been taken to stop this from happening again. Instead of taking real precautions to stop gun violence and prevent this shooting from occurring, a “student Riley Howell charged and knocked into the shooter, police say. Howell died for his efforts, shot by the gunman he rushed.” Instead of amending gun laws and preventing this from happening all together, we continue to put children’s lives on the line and make them sacrifice themselves for guns. It took less than one day for the New Zealand government to amend their gun laws, yet it has taken years and hundreds of shootings, hundreds of lives, for us to even consider new laws. It is time to change and time to reconsider what matters more, the lives of children or guns.
